Miss Lindberg: A little about me...
I am in my third year of the Elementary Education Program at the University of Victoria. Before attending the University of Victoria, I attended the Canadian College of Performing Arts. Here, I gained many skills that will benefit me while teaching in an elementary setting. I am currently doing my 6-week practicum at Rogers Elementary with Mrs. Gauk's grade 2-3 class. This will be my second practicum in the Elementary Education program. Last year I was in Duncan BC, at Maple Bay Elementary for my 3-week practicum, teaching a grade 3-4 class.
My teaching philosophy has been a on-going discovery for me. Thus far, I am a strong avocate for environmental/outdoor education, arts education, exploration, collaboration, and technology. I believe that students need a positive environment where they feel safe, both physically and emotionally. In this, building a positive relationship between student and teacher to provide a successful environment for learning, is very important. Because students these days are so diverse in their learning, adaptations and extensions in lessons are key to ensure that students are working at their appropriate level, as well as being challenged when needed.
It has been a challenging and amazing three years in the Elementary Education program. It has given me many experiences that have helped me learn about myself as a person, as well as a teacher. I am so thankful that Rogers has graciously welcomed me into their school community and I look forward to the weeks to come!
